Website: Vern Gosdin
hometown: Woodland Alabama

Vern Gosdin is one of those singers who seems to have been around forever and you would wonder what you'd do if he wasn't there. Vern has had several top 10 hits going all the way back to the mid seventies he was always going to be a country singer. Well he probably didn't have much choice when you realise his family ran the Gosdin Family Gospel Show which was a regular on WVOK in Birmingham Alabama, during the 1940's and 50's.

Vern along with his brother Rex who sadly died in 1983 broke away from the gospel scene and went on the road with several Bluegrass bands.

Vern is the first to admit that he'd made several mistakes in his professional life his biggest one was probably when Jim Dixon approached him about forming a band called the Byrds. He dropped out of the music scene for a while then came back in the 70's with two songs Hangin on and Yesterday's gone Emmylou Harris added harmony vocals to yesterday's gone and Janie Frickie did the same with never my love both songs making the top ten. By the early 80's he had his first No 1 with I can tell you by the way you dance, (You're gonna love me tonight.) 1987 saw Vern sign for Columbia records his first album for Columbia was Chiseled in Stone. want to know more visit Vern's Website.
