Lynn Anderson
born (in 1947 in Grand Forks, North Dakota) While still very young Lynn''s parents moved to Sacramento, California; her father worked at a car dealership and her mother pursued her hobby of writing country songs.
Jack McFadden, a fellow salesman at the Chevrolet agency with Casey Anderson, was impressed by the songs of his friend's wife; he was also destined to be Buck Owens's manager, and had aspirations to enter the country-music business.
As Liz Anderson's songs were circulated, local and then national country singers sought them for their engaging melodies and clever lyrics. Merle Haggard, who was just starting out in nearby Bakersfield, had two of his biggest early hits with Liz Anderson songs these were - '(All My Friends Are Gonna Be) Strangers' and 'Just Between the Two Of Us,' an award-winning duet with Bonnie Owens. Liz also wrote songs for Roy Drusky, Conway Twitty, and herself in a career with RCA and Columbia.
Meanwhile, Lynn was growing up in this atmosphere, and though not immediately liking cowboy songs, she at least took to cowboy events; she became one of the most accomplished riders in California. Winning many competitions and being named California Horse Show Queen of 1966.
Singing was in her blood too and she secured landed a spot on Sacremento TV on the Country Corners Show. Her crisp voice and sincere stylings. Landed her a bigger spot on the Welk Show however having just go married she and her husband Glenn Sutton a songwriter and producer decided to move to Nashville.
It wasn't long before Lynn was turning out hit after hit with songs like 'I've Been Everywhere,' 'Rocky Top' and 'That's a No-No.' However her biggest hit came when she signed for her husbands record label Columbia and recorded I never promised you a rose garden. Selling in excess of two million copies and earning Lynn a Grammy Award
