Freddy Fender
Born in San Benito, Texas in 1937, his real name is Baldemar Huerta. While still young he travelled much of the US with his family who were migratory workers. He picked cotton in Arkansas, beets in Michigan, Hay and Tomatoes in Indiana.
As soon as he was old enough he joined the Marines but spent most of his career in the brig. On his release he became a musician and he had a few Tex-Mex hits in his local area, these were in Spanish and at the same time he was dabbling in Rockabilly.
