Crystal Gayle
born as Brenda Gail Webb in Paintsville, Kentucky in 1951 the youngest of eight children, it was her more famous sister Loretta Lynn who suggested the stage name. It came after they were driving past a Kyrstal hamburger Chain.
Crystal began her career in pop and folk and toured for a while with Loretta having some minor hits. However she spent quite a few years paying her dues as they say in the country music industry before they finally began to pay off the year was 1972 and she was introduced to producer Allen Reynolds.

Hit Machine
Reynolds was responsible for Don Williams and he made Crystal the female counterpart to the Williams sound. It wasn't long before her hits were coming in rapid succession.
Wrong Road Again, This Is My Year For Mexico, Do It All Over Again, then by the mid 70's she shifted to a more pop sound and had her massive hit Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.
1977 saw her named best female country singer by the country music association. She became the first female singer to record an album that sold more than 1 million copies. She has moved further away from country but she still manages to maintain a loyal following.
