Clay Walker was born in Beaumont Texas on 19 August 1969. His father gave him a guitar when he was nine and this began Clay's love affair with country music.

On Leaving High School Clay pursued his dream of playing music for a living he played concerts across the southern US states, the midwest and even to Canada. Throughout the next three years he toured went to school, took courses in music business and he also acted as his own manager.

Neon Armadillo Bar!

During this period the Neon Armadillo Bar in Beaumont offered Clay the job of house singer and he took it. while performing James Stroud the producer heard Clay and offered to work with him. It was Stroud who secured Clay a contract with Giant Records a small label but they helped Clay achieve commercial success.

His first two releases were singles- "What's It To You" and "Live Until I Die" reached No. 1 in 1993., and thanks to his three years on the road he was emerging as a popular live performer, especially in Texas. By the end of 1998, Clay had over a dozen Top 5 hits his first four studio albums were certified platinum. his Greatest Hits and the follow-up album Live, Laugh, Love were certified gold.
