Big Rain - Eagles meets Delbert McClinton/Mavericks!

Bruce Guynn and Peter Alaimo started Big Rain in 1994 after meeting in all places a fitness centre, this was in their home town of Santa Cruz California.

They kicked around in a studio for several months modifying and evolving the style that we now know as Big Rain, at this time they didn't actually have a name, fortunately it had been raining for months and that gave them the idea for the band's name catchy isn't it. I've seen several attempts to pigeon hole Big Rain things like Eagles meet Delbert McClinton by way of the Mavericks, they've also been likened to Santana. Trust me this band is nothing like any of them they are unique. With some great sounds excellent musicianship.

Since those early days Big Rain have been performing non stop having logged 1,100 performances and performing with some of the biggest names in the business.

With Performances that flow from mid to up tempo dance songs to heart felt ballads with what they call free fall improvisational jams you know if you go to see them you'll have a great night.

Big Rain are probably the true defination of the working man's band with trials and tribulations that would have put most bands off for life. James Chatterton joined the duo for the Album Big Rain and they formed an instant attraction so much so that Jim was invited to join the band. This album is full of strong melodies, which in itself is unusual these days, with song after song that you can't help but like.

Album Review

Track One Sweet Inspiration words and music by Bruce Guynn - I love this track a really easy flowing feel to it great dance number title is self explantory about what the song is about.

Track Two I'm Not Running words and music by Bruce Guynn A song about wanting to get away but deciding to stand and fight.

Track Three Angel in My Room words and music by Bruce Guynn - This song has a great sixties feel to it, terrific dance track, unusual song about an Angel watching him while he writes this song to make sure he doesn't go wrong.

Track 4 December Night Music by Bruce Guynn, words by Mark Gurley, Foot Tapping intro love song that happened on a cold December Night.

Track 5 Sound of Freedom words and music by Bruce Guynn This song had a familiar feel to it I can understand why people compare them to Santana after this track, Great track you'll love it.

Track 6 Valley of Towers words and music by Bruce Guynn - starts with some heavy drum beats to set the scene a deep meaningful song that will mean many things to different people.

Track 7 I'm Breaking Out, Music by Bruce Guynn, words by Mark Gurley, A tale about getting away from broken promises

Track 9 Waiting words and music by Bruce Guynn, song about the struggles to make it and the rejection, you'll feel yourself feeling for the band in this number.

Track 10 Moment of Honesty words and music by Bruce Guynn Self explanatory song title about cutting to the chase. real haunting sound.

Track 11 Hotel Life words and music by Bruce Guynn This song will strike a chord with most artist a road song about missing the wife and kids, some great rhythms.

There isn't a weak track on this album, you can dance to most of them, if this band has a weakness I haven't spotted it, except maybe they could be too clever for the average audience they are a really sophisticated band with sophisticated lyrics sang to a sophisticated sound. I only hope that they don't end up one of those bands that in 10 years time we're all trying like hell to get hold of their albums because they were so advanced.

Great album love it all wish I was clever enough to understand it all, but hey great music great harmonies don't really need to be understood do they.
